Salary level will be determined in accordance with years of relevant experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will provide operational and strategic support for the effective development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of integrated health and wellness promotion programmes. The post aims to support departmental priorities across the life course and contribute to strengthening the Start Well, Live Well and Age Well philosophy through coordinated, evidence-based wellness interventions and multisectoral engagement.
Requirements
Minimum Educational Qualification:
An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Biokineticist.
Professional Registration:
Current registration with the HPCSA as a Biokineticist.
Experience:

Grade 1:
-
No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as a Biokineticist

For foreign-qualified employees who are not required to perform community service in South Africa: A minimum of one (1) year relevant experience after registration

Grade 2:
-
A minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA
-
For foreign-qualified employees: A minimum of eleven (11) years relevant experience

Grade 3:
-
A minimum of twenty (20) years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA

For foreign-qualified employees: A minimum of twenty-one (21) years relevant experience

Inherent Requirements of the Job

Willingness to work overtime when required

A valid driver’s licence and the ability to drive

Willingness to travel within the province
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Knowledge and experience in health and wellness promotion programmes

Knowledge and application of relevant policies, regulations, procedures and indicators for integrated health and wellness promotion

Good understanding of the public health system

Strong monitoring and evaluation skills

Effective project management and basic financial management skills

Proficiency in information technology, including Microsoft Office and digital platforms

Strong numeracy, literacy, writing, research, conceptualisation, analysis and communication skills

Facilitation, stakeholder engagement, networking, and negotiation skills

Analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to prioritise, organise work, exercise self-discipline, work under pressure and manage a high workload

Creativity, initiative, assertiveness, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Appropriate experience in public health, programme development and review, community services, primary health care, community development, participatory approaches, behaviour change, health promotion and cross-sectoral partnerships
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Provide operational and strategic support for the development, implementation, and evaluation of health and wellness promotion initiatives aligned with departmental priorities across the life course

Operationalise processes for the effective implementation, maintenance and evaluation of health and wellness promotion objectives
-
Mobilise services and multisectoral stakeholders to strengthen integrated wellness approaches
-
Support and administer monitoring, evaluation and reporting for health and wellness promotion programmes
-
Provide logistical, administrative and programme support to wellness promotion initiatives
-
Contribute to policy development and evidence-based decision-making in wellness promotion
